Silver Era Transition

——Startup project conducted during the exchange period at The Hague University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands

About the project

The Silver Era Transition project was part of a practical course titled ‘Being a Successful Online Startup’ that I undertook during my exchange at The Hague University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. Spanning a semester, this entrepreneurial project was conducted in collaboration with team members from various countries, including Simone Vascotto from Italy, Conor Johnston from Ireland, and Ajin Park from Korea. This was my first experience of applying theoretical knowledge in a practical setting and also my first time using English as a language of communication and work, which was highly significant for me.

The inspiration for this project stemmed from the observation of an aging trend in Europe. We noticed that many small businesses such as restaurants, cafes, and grocery stores, often run by elderly individuals, faced the challenge of retirement without successors. Our goal was to create a platform that not only aids these individuals in finding young successors but also simplifies the process of transferring their businesses.

During this project, I took on the role of a developer, learning and utilizing JavaScript for building some front-end features of the company website, as well as backend user statistics and database storage. I was also involved in customizing the website’s Chatbot, user matchmaking, and the company’s stock price model, applying my prior knowledge. Additionally, I gained valuable insights into user experience design from our designer, Ajin, and learned effective strategies for market expansion, both online and offline, as well as how to conduct effective assessments of the company’s condition and growth, from Simone and Conor.
